NORTHFIELD--Funeral services for Oliver F. Pruett, 94, long time resident of Northfield, who passed away at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Longueville in LaCrescent on Wednesday, January 14, were held Friday, January 16 at the Bierman Funeral chapel. The Rev. Richard Douglas, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated at 2:30 p.m. A Masonic service was held following with six members of Social Lodge No. 48 A.F. and A.M. serving as pallbearers for interment in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Oliver Pruett was born December 16, 1858 at Perkinsville, Ind., one of nine children in the family. He is survived by one sister Mrs. Wade Castor of Lebanon, Ind. As a young man he came to Tama County, Iowa, where in 1888 he was united in marriage to Miss Jessie Hubbard. They made their home on a farm near Emmettsburg, Iowa. In 1899 they moved to Hancock where they built a home on prairie land. In 1910 they moved to Northfield to provide better educational advantages for their family. They purchased the former Fred Hibbard farm on the Dennison road later moving to the property that is now the Northfield Golf course. Mrs. Pruett passed away in 1950 and since that time Mr. Pruett has made his home with his daughters.

Besides his sister he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Charles H. Messner (Hazel) of Northfield; Mrs. Arthur Ellingboe (Della) of Dennison and Mrs. Paul Longueville (Mary) of LaCrescent. There are 11 grandchildren, 19
great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. One daughter Mrs. J. M. Punderson (Gertrude) preceded him in death. Attending the service from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. William Dick of Red Wing; Mr. and Mrs. Martin Benson, Cannon Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ellingboe and daughter, of Dennison; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Longueville and family of LaCrescent, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Von Wald and family and Mr. and Mrs. Melbourne Zimmerman of Stanton.
