Samuel H. Vandeventer was born October 28, 1926 in Krum, Texas to his parents Roy William and Willie Howard Vandeventer. He was the fourth of seven children;

Garvis Lyle Vandeventer (Ted)
Virgil Rex Vandeventer (Chig)
Goldie Jewell Vandeventer
Bobbie Jean Vandeventer
Robert Roy Vandeventer
Frances Marie Vandeventer

In December, 1943 he married Mary Elizabeth Prewitt and to this union were born four children;

Samuel Howard Vandeventer Jr.
Roy William Vandeventer.
Jerry Dean Vandeventer
Janice Marie Vandeventer

Sam served in World War II and after his discharge he began working for the Ford plant. He decided to drive long haul hoping to provide better for his family, but soon found himself away to long and wanted to spend more time with his wife and children. He began roofing, which he made into a career for over 25 years. Not only was Sam a hard worker, he was also very talented. He could play both the Banjo and Guitar and according to his sister, Frances, "he could sing like Bill Monroe".

Sam and Mary were married 42 years until Marys death in 1986 at age 58. Samuel lived to age 66, passing away in early 1993.

Remember, Life is a resting place along
the path to sweet eternity.
We all have a different journey.
For some the journey is quicker,
For others the journey is slow.
But, when the journey finally ends,
We will claim a Great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the lord.
