Samuel Richardson was the eldest child of Benjamin and Lydia Brown Richardson. He was born in Deerfield (now Tidioute), Warren, Pennsylvania. A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Lock Haven, Clinton County, November 4, 1861, mustered into federal service at Harrisburg December 18 as a private with Co. F, 58th Pennsylvania Infantry, but died at a hospital at Camp Curtin reportedly from typhoid fever and pneumonia. His name is inscribed on the Civil War Monument in Tidioute Cemetery (PA), which honors their men who served the Union. He was buried the day after his death at Harrisburg Cemetery.
