GOSHEN - Edmund C. Berger, 81, died Monday, July 16, 2012, in his residence in Goshen. He was born April 8, 1931, in Peoria, IL, to the late Howard C. and Helen (Martindale) Berger. His mother, Helen, was the daughter of three Martindale triplets.

On August 18, 1956, in South Bend, he married Delores M. Haley, who died January 10, 1997. They had three daughters, Marianne L. Kaczmarek (Ron), Kimberly A. Clark of South Bend and Charlene M. Deters (John) of Goshen.

He leaves behind his grandchildren, Christopher, JohnMichael and Timothy Deters, Victoria, Zackary and Mikel Clark; 2 step-grandchildren, Heather Hudson and Bryan Clark; one great-grandchild, Riley Deters; and 2 step-great-grandchildren, Leeana Hudson and Braydon Hudson. He has one sibling surviving him, Irene Norblad of South Bend.

Edmund graduated from Washington-Clay High School and attended I.U. Bloomington. He served with honor in the United States Army from 1951-1953. He retired from the South Bend Tribune as a composer and printer, serving from 1957 to 1991. After retirement he drove many years for Avis Rentals. Edmund was an avid bowler for the Tribune and bowled a 277 and a Triplicate score of 191. He enjoyed playing euchre at Howard Park with his friends. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
