Although her headstone says she was born in 1861, we think this is an error. Her older sister (Mary Ann Rosalie Carter) was born in September of 1861 near Laramie, Wyoming, while the family crossed the plains, so they weren't even in the valley by Feb 23 1861. Other records suggest she was born 23 Sep 1864 and died in 1865.

We listed the 1861 on this memorial site however, because of how it is marked on the headstone.

Also, other records show she died on 19 Jul 1865 and was buried on 21 Jul 1865.
