SHANNON, LaVerne P., 75, passed away Friday, December 7, 2007 at a local hospital with her husband, children and grandchildren at her bedside. Mrs. Shannon taught high sccool English at E. B. Erwin and the Jefferson County System for over 30 years. She was very proud of the impact many of her former students made in their communities. Nanny enjoyed reading good books, sewing, and spoiling grandchildren and great-grandchildren rotton. Mrs. Shannon is preceded in death by her parents, the Reverend and Mrs. Sam H. Peyton of Mississippi; three brothers, Howard, W. E., and Richard Peyton. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Vincent E. Shannon, Jr.; her five children, Deidre Puryear (Ronnie), Jacque Kelly, Vince Shannon (Faye), Kathy Wren (Jack) and ChristyGay (Mike) all of Birmingham; her grandchildren, Dee Dee Puryear, Eric Kelly, Clay and Luke Shannon, Ron Puryear (Leslie), Scott Kelly (Brandy) and Katie Banks; her great-grandchildren, Peyton and Lexi Lang, Brelyn, Jada Kelly, Emma and Ella Puyear; her brother, David Peyton ofMobile, and her aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec 10, 2007 at Ridout's Trussville Chapel at 11 A. M. with Reverend Shawn Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East. Visitation will be held from 3:30 P.M. Until 6 P.M.
