Eleanor Scott was the daughter of William Henry and Beatrice (Stringer) Scott of Willowdale. Her father was a kind, honest man, devoted to the well-being of his family. Her mother surmounted many difficulties in those pioneer days, making a home for their family with what was at hand, as this was before electricity and modern conveniences were introduced to the farming community. There were eight children in the Scott family: Irene, Maurice, E.M. (Curly), Earl, Eleanor, John (Jack), May, and Leland (Dick).
In August of 1930 Eleanor married William Donald 'Don' Hamilton, who had decided to try farming on his own, and was renting the W.B. Henderson farm at NE 8-37-26-W4. This was their home for thirty-one years. They raised some good Clydesdale horses and Shorthorn cattle and also kept pigs. In other words, they ran a mixed farm, as it was called at the time.
Don and Eleanor had four children: Alberta, Maxine, William Donald (Bud), and Robert Dale (Bob).
Don was on the Board of Managers of Zion Church, Willowdale, and Eleanor was active in the women's group, and their children took part in all the church's youth work.
After leaving the farm, Don and Eleanor moved to Red Deer. Eleanor worked for a time at Deerhome, at the Red Deer Nursing Home, and for Social Services in Red Deer.
Don died on January 24, 1978, after a year of failing health. Eleanor continued to live in Red Deer, but due to ill health, was forced to retire. She died on April 11, 1982 and is buried at the Red Deer Cemetery.
