Elmer Joseph Prestegaard, second son of Mr. & Mrs. Edward O. Prestegaard, of Deer Creek township, Worth county, Iowa, passed away at the Naeve hospital, Albert Lea, Minnesota last Friday afternoon, October 26, at 20 minutes to four o'clock from blood-poisoning.

On the playground at school he had received an injury to one of his legs by being struck by a ball bat. Not complaining of his injury for a few days, no one knew that the boy was ailing. Then on Friday, October 12, when he was to meet with the confirmation class, he took his bicycle as usual and was going to make the trip on the wheel. On his way home he seemed to have aggravated his ailment so that severe pain and fever developed.

A physician was then called and he recognized the symptoms of internal infection. Elmer was taken to the hospital in Albert Lea, Minnesota where an operation was performed on his leg. A few days later two blood transfusions were resorted to. Those who gave of their blood were his father and an uncle, Sophus Hendrickson.

Elmer was a good, conscientious and obedient boy, both at home and at school, and will be greatly missed by his parents, brothers and sisters and friends. He passed away very peacefully, his soul going home to his Saviour.

He was born in Deer Creek township, Worth county, on August 21, 1922. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith on September 17, 1922. He was at his death preparing for confirming his baptismal covenant and stood well in his class. He leaves to mourn his death his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward O. Prestegaard, three brothers, Orin Palmer, Arthur Noran and Juel Alton and two sisters, Sylvia Juliett and Ethel Marie; also a large relationship with many young friends. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral services included John Hendrikson of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Cowles, Mr. and Mrs. Hartwick Hendrikson of Portage, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jones and baby and Miss Nina Hendrikson of Boyceville, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Eno Hendrikson, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lee and family of Albert Lea; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Ellegard and son and G. Ellegard of Bancroft, Minnesota Mr. and Mrs. William Hoffman and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Prestegaard and family, Mr. and Mrs. George James and Family, Mr. and Mrs. John Ramsey, Chas. Hoffman and Ed Open, of Hayward, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Julius Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wogstad and son, Mrs. Andrew Wogstad and daughter and Mrs. Ole Hanson of Adams, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Boening of Mapleton, Minnesota.
