She was married to director Frank W. Tuttle in June of 1930 and they divorced in 1946. Zermeno sued Tuttle for custody of their daughter 'Barbara' and asked the court to approve her getting $80,000 in cash and bonds and after one year, 20 percent of Tuttle's income plus $124 per month child support.
Zermeno was the sister of actress Dina Smirnova, buried a few yards away.
Her mothers name was Tatiana Smirnova.
