Helen Daugherty Cain of Westmoreland Manor, Hempfield Township, formerly of Monessen, died Thursday, July 12, 1984, at 8:50 a.m. in Hempfield Township. She was 79.

Born in Trumbull County, Ohio, on July 16, 1905, she is the daughter of the late Marshall and Ella (Decker) Daugherty.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Jesse L. Cain in 1964; son, Robert Cain in 1955; and daughter, Anna Lou Chowning in 1973.

She was a former elementary school teacher in the Monessen school system and a member of the First Christian Church of Monessen.

Surviving are three sons, James Cain of Belle Vernon R.D. 5, John Cain of California, Pa. and Charles Cain of Monessen; two daughters, Mrs. James (Martha) Anderson of Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. James (Sarah) Bulger of Houston, Tex.; 14 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and one brother, Marshall Daugherty of Velrico, Fla.

Friends will be received at the Rhome Funeral Home, Inc., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
