From the Rice County Journal:

John Miller, who has been ill for a short time, died at his home on Winona Street last Tuesday morning, May 17. Mr. Miller had enjoyed good health until his recent illness, and had led an active life until that time. Mr. Miller was 64 years old at the time of his death. John Miller was born at Morristown, New York, March 4, 1846. He left his native state when 29 years old and came to Waseca County, Minn. After staying there for a year he removed to the township of Northfield, this being in 1876. Soon afterwards he purchased a farm four miles east of Northfield. This was a fine piece of property of 200 acres, and the deceased remained on this farm until 1904, when the farm was sold to E. P. Miller. After this Mr. Miller removed to Northfield where he built the Miller residence, 114 Winona Street. Mr. Miller was married to Evaline L. Couper November 19, 1895. He is survived by his wife and one sister, Mrs. William R. Green of this city. Mr. Miller was a very active man and a man who made a success of all his undertakings. His farm on Wall Street was one of the best in the county and shows the abilities of the deceased in his chosen vocation. He was deeply interested in local and state politics, being an enthusiastic Republican. He was chairman of the board of trustees of the Congregational Society. The funeral services were held at the home on Winona Street Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, rev. E. B. Dean conducting. The ladies' quartet of Carleton furnished the music. Interment was made in Oaklawn Cemetery
