He was the 4th of 8 children, born January 26, 1926 in Redfield, Kansas to the late John and Sylvia (West) Delzell.
Pete had farmed in the Cedarville, Woodbine, Stockton, and Pearl City areas over many years. He had been a welder at Stovers and retired from Kelly Springfield in 1989 after 21 years as a tire inspector there.
He loved nature, gardening, and caring for God’s creatures. For much of his life he raised horses. In more recent years he loved to care for his goats, rabbits, ducks, his dogs, and his bluebirds on his acreage west of Freeport.
Pete married Consuelo “Etta” Furveyr on Valentines Day 1993.
Surviving is his dear Etta of Freeport; his children, Robert Delzell of Jessup, Md., Sandra (Charles) Lieske of Charlotte, NC., Sylvia (Delos) Craig of South Beloit, Illinois; his beloved grand and great grandchildren who he loved to watch as they fished and played on his farm; his sisters, June Snyder of Freeport, Nettie Shepherd of Bloomington, Orpha Lea (Earl) Koester of Statesville, NC., and Loletta Dunahee of Clay City; sisters in-law, Roberta Delzell of Lena and Loretta Dotson of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters; Leuna Dotson and Florine Retzlaff; brother, Donald Delzell.

Funeral service will be Friday 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday 1 p.m. until time of service in the Chapel.
Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
