NEY - Jimmie Ray Vaughn, 61, of Ney, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers-Bryan.
Born April 29, 1943, at Chattanooga, Tenn., to Grace (Posey) and Ralph Vaughn, he married Martha Maddock on June 21, 1969, and she survives.
Formerly employed at Campbell's Soup Company, retiring in 1986, he then became an owner/operator of a truck company leased to Trailer Express, Trailer Transit & Power Source.
He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, was a Master Gardener and an Army veteran.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jimmie Ray Vaughn II of Defiance; two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Karen) Tobias of Defiance and Mrs. Tom (Laura) Kestner of Grelton; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Maloy of Enterprise, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul Vaughn; a son, Raymond L. Vaughn; a daughter, Carolyn K. Vaughn-Saunders; a sister, Martha Beard; and a stepbrother, Homer Sellers. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. in the Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home, Defiance, and on Friday one hour prior to services at the Zion Lutheran Church, Defiance. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the church with the Rev. Robert McNamara to officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance. VFW graveside rites are to be performed by VFW Post 3360.
Memorials may be made to the church, Diabetes fund or to VA Hospitals.
