O C Davidson, a resident of Hillsboro for the past twelve years, and a lifelong resident of this county, died at his home in Hillcrest Friday afternoon, August 1, at 2:00 o'clock. He was 79 years, 6 months and 3 days old, at his death.
Funeral Held Sunday
The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Bass funeral home in Hillsboro. The Reverend Ross Davidson was the officiant. Burial was made in the Casey cemetery.
Born At Fillmore
Oris Caswell Davidson was a son of the late Adley and Lucinda (Spears) Davidson. He was born on a farm in Fillmore township on January 28, 1868 and spent almost his entire life in that township, where he farmed. In 1935 he retired from farming and bought a house in Hillcrest, Hillsboro, to which he and his wife moved and which has been their home since then. On May 5, 1942, they celebrated their golden wedding there, with a family dinner which was attended by all seven of their children and other relatives and with a reception at which more than one hundred friends and relatives were guests.
Mr and Mrs Davidson were married at Fillmore on May 5, 1892, at the home of the latter's parents, John and Burnetta (Casey) Hicks. Mrs Davidson was Miss Cora I Hicks before her marriage.
Surviving Relatives
Mrs Davidson survives her husband, with their seven children, who are Paralee, the wife of Loren Scott of Gillespie; Adley Davidson, Hillsboro; Viola, the wife of Harold Edwards of Decatur; Othel Davidson of Hillsboro; Hettie, the wife of Carl Gross, Hillsboro, Melburlene, wife of Chaunney Titsworth, of Roxana and Burnetta, the wife of Maurice Joyce of Hillsboro. Seven grandchildren also survive. One brother, Joe, who survives, and a sister, Mrs Nancy Matthews, both live at Bingham. The parents, two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
