Services were at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Onawa, with the Rev. John Noer officiating. Burial was in the Onawa Cemetery.
Mae was born Sept. 30, 1906, in Odebolt, Iowa, the daughter of George and Rose (Hoefling) Mandernach. She graduated from Odebolt High School and later earned her bachelor of arts degree from Iowa State Teachers College. She married Magnus Craford in August 1936. He died in 1952.
She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ and PEO. Mae will be remembered by many in Onawa and Blencoe as a dedicated teacher who was sure that knowing history and geography would make her students better citizens. She was appreciated as a special person and close friend to three generations of Iowans, reaping the rewards of a life shared with others, and she was an extraordinary mom who lived the adage, "If you love something, set it free."
Survivors include a daughter, two sons, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Ethel Mandernach.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert.
