Artemis M. Pappas, 96, died on Saturday, May 1, 2021 in Somerset, New Jersey.

Mrs. Pappas was born August 6, 1924 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to the late Stelios and Olga (Xikis) Macaronis.

She graduated from New Brunswick High School in 1943. Prior to marriage, she was employed at Johnson and Johnson. Artemis and her husband owned and operated Pappas Insurance Agency for over thirty years. She was a founding member of the new parish center of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway, where she was a member and past president of the Daughters of Penelope Chapter, Tethys #229 and the Ladies Philoptochos Society. Her love of music, singing and her musical talent saw her serve as choir director and church organist for many years. Additionally, she volunteered her time with the annual Greek festival and coordinated the admissions and decorations committees for several years. Her exceptional artistic giftedness was evident in her home and in gifts shared with family and friends.

Mrs. Pappas was preceded in death by her husband in 2006, James M. Pappas (married in April 1952, Highland Park, Middlesex Co., New Jersey) and her sister, Helen Mustakas.

She is survived by her daughter, Olga Pappas of Somerset; her son, Michael Pappas and his wife Sage of Branchburg; her granddaughter, Destiny and several nieces, nephews and extended family.

Family and friends may visit on Thursday, May 6th from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ 08873.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 7, 2021 at 11:30 A.M. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Piscataway. Burial and committal services will follow at Van Liew Cemetery in North Brunswick.
