Obituary - J.P. Conklin Dies Suddenly At Home - People of this vicinity were shocked to hear of the sudden death, yesterday noon, of James P. Conklin, of 23 Carman Street, well known contractor and builder. Mr. Conklin, accompanied by his wife, son and family, motored to Sayville for a little morning outing and were returning home when he complained of not feeling very well. After returning home he had been in the house but a short time when the end came. Mr. Conklin was 76 years old and was the son of Jeremiah Conklin of Riverhead. He came to Patchogue about 57 years ago, and started his business career. Shortly afterwards he married Mary Louise Noe of Sayville. Mr. Conklin and his son have built over 300 houses in Patchogue and suburbs. The deceased had a host of friends. He leaves his wife, his son, Chester Conklin, of Patchogue, and three daughters, Mrs. Alvah Anderson, of Patchogue, Mrs. Louis Page and Mrs. Ernest Rogers of Greenport; three brothers, John, Eugene and Frank of Patchogue; and a sister, Mrs. Austin Tuthill of Mattituck. Funeral services will be held at the home tomorrow at 2 p.m., the Rev. Norman A. Hall of the Methodist Church officiating, with interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
