Charles Holland Moore, 94, a lifelong resident and businessman of Scotland County, Mo., died on February 19, 1992, at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Mo.

Holland was born in rural Scotland County on September 17, 1897, to Charles Michael Moore and Eva Pettit Moore.

He was united in marriage to Myrtle Myers on February 8, 1920. To this union three children were born, two daughters and one son.

Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrtle, on March 15, 1991; daughter, Charlotte Moore; one grandson, Charles Thomas Moore; three sisters, Marion Neese, Eva Myers, and Lillian Craig; and one son-in-law, Arthur Gifford.

Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Gifford of Memphis, MO.; one son, Sydney and his wife, Dorene Moore of Memphis, Mo.; five grandchildren, Sandra Orr, Mary Ann Kirkpatrick, Janis Gifford-Day, Rachel Gifford, and Holly Gifford; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Anna Dean Pulliam of Kirksville, MO.

Holland was well-known in the area as an auctioneer and a livestock buyer. He was a World War I Veteran and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Moore was a member of the First Baptist Church in Memphis.

Funeral services were held on February 22, 1992, at the First Baptist Church in Memphis. Brothers Larry Groom and Ernest Deatrick officiated. Organist was Jenny Gifford and Arthur Holland Gifford was the vocalist. Casket bearers were Brandon Moore, Holly Gifford, David Kirkpatrick, Tom Myers, Robert Pulliam, and Don Edelman.

Burial was in the Edinburg Cemetery, Scotland County, Mo.
