St. Albans Messenger, Thursday, August 9, 1888, page 5, DIED. "CAMP--In St. Albans, August 7, Riverius Camp, aged 76 years, 11 months and 12 days."

"Mr. Riverius Camp, who died early Tuesday morning at his residence on Rugg street, entered the employ of the Central Vermont ? at Northfield in April or May, 1851, as the ? keeper in the office of the master mechanic and superintendent of motive ?, and has been connected in virtually the same position, ever since that time--a period of over 57 years. That he has been faithful to the duties of this position goes without saying, and not a person who has come in contact with him ? bear testimony to his ecellence of character. Mr. Camp had been in failing health for some time, and had for a week suffered much pain, but kept about the house. On Monday he had a fall in the bath room, and the shock thus received is thought to have hastened his death. Mr. Camp was 77 years old, and leaves a wife and one daughter, Miss A. I. Camp, who fortunately, had just come home for a vacation visit, and was thus able to be with her father during his last hours. The funeral was held on today at 9:45 a.m., and the remains were taken to Northfield for burial."

"The Funeral of Riverius Camp"
It was a reverent company that gathered at the residence of the late Riverius Camp on the 9th, to pay the last sad tribute of respect. Among those present were all the railroad officials and the employees at the shops, among whom the deceased had been very popular during his long term of service. Englesby Lodge, of which Mr. Camp was a charter member, was represented by a goodly delegation wearing the emblems of mourning. The floral offerings were of a choice and appropriate nature, speaking volumes by way of honor to the memory of the deceased. Rev. J. Edward Wright of Montpelier was the officiating clergyman, and in a tender address paid deserved tribute to the exemplary character of our departed friend. At the close of the exercises at the house the railroad men and Masons filed through the hall for a last look at the face of their old and beloved associate. The remains were then escorted to the depot and put aboard the eleven o'clock express en route for Northfield, a special car being provided for the funeral party. At Northfield the St. Albans Masons were joined by other members of the fraternity in the performance of the impressive rites peculiar to that order."
