Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00PM in the chapel of McDonald Funeral Home in Hohenwald with Bill Webb and Drew Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis County Memorial Gardens. Visitation with Mr. Gaffords family will be Monday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM.
Obituary
Mr. Gafford was the owner and founder of Hohenwald Truck lines for 27 years. Served 15 years in the Boy Souts of America in the Buffalo River District as well as Middle Tennessee Council where he served on the board. He was the recipient of the Long Rifle Award from the Buffalo River District and the Silver Beaver Award from the Middle Tennessee Council. He served the State House of Representatives from 1982 until 1985 where he was instrumental in the Highway 412 project. He was also a co-founder of the Lewis Co. Bank in Hohenwald. Mr. Gafford served as Industrial Recruiter for Lewis County. Along with his wife, Mr. Gafford was co founder of the Lewis County Celebrate Recovery Program. He served as a city councilman for the city of Hohenwald and was past president of the Tennessee Motor Trucking Association.
He was prededed in death by his parents John W. and Mary Jumper Gafford. A brother Dewitt Gafford and two sisters, Frances Todd and Vida Mae Gafford.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn McClearen Gafford. Two sons, Don R. Gafford (Gina) and Jeff W. Gallaher (Lisa) both of Hohenwald. Also five grandchildren, Harley Gallaher, Madison Gafford and Levi West of Hohenwald, Brooklyn Bolton of Mt. Pleasant and Zac Gafford of Columbia .
