Albert Stanbery married Lucy "Mildred" Curry in Van Zandt County, Texas and they had ten children, raising them in Van Zandt, Ellis and Angelina Counties.

Services for J. A. (Albert) Stanbery, 87, of Huntington, were conducted in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel Monday afternoon. Rev. Herbert George and Rev. R. C. Forrest, Jr. officiated and burial followed in the Shofner Cemetery.
Mr. Stanbery died early Sunday morning after a lengthy illness. He was born in Van Zandt County but had lived in Huntington since 1938. Mr. Stanbery was a veteran of World War I and World War II and was a member of the VFW Post No. 1836 in Lufkin. He was a member and deacon of the First Ora Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred Stanbery; three sons, A. J. Stanbery and Bobby Stanbery and Odis Stanbery; four daughters, Mrs. Opal Ray and Mrs. Manell McClain, both of Lufkin, Mrs. Lovy Ellis and Mrs. Betty Flurry, both of Huntington; brother, Homer Stanbery of Huntington; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Odom of Hillsboro, Mrs. Lela Helms of Weatherford; 27 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were his grandsons.
