Leyn R. Fluckey, 63, of rural Fontanelle died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, at his home.
He was born March 10, 1941, in Rupert, Idaho. He grew up in Arlington and was a 1958 graduate of Arlington High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from Jan. 22, 1959, to Jan. 15, 1963, stationed in Japan. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and served aboard the USS Guadalcanal and was discharged Aug. 8, 1967. He moved to Fort Calhoun and worked for OPPD until retiring in 1996. He had resided in Fontanelle for the past 15 years.
He married Sue Aldrich on Jan. 2, 1966, in Arlington.
He was a member of American Legion Post 71 at Arlington.
Survivors include: two daughters, Melony Fluckey of Tulsa, Okla., and Michelle (Mrs. Dave) Turnquist of Santa Maria, Calif.; his mother, Lorraine Wilkening of Fremont; brother, Jim (and wife, Eula) Fluckey of Papillion; and two granddaughters.
The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Rick Kanoy of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Arlington, officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, all at the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by members of American Legion Post 71 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8332 of Arlington at the funeral home following the funeral service. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
