Henry B. Ausmus was born August 3, 1883 in Knox County, Missouri. He was one of three children born to Miles and Dillie (Campbell)Ausmus. He had two sisters; Odessa (Wares) and Minnie (Odneal). Henry, his parents, his sisters, their household goods, and livestock came to Oklahoma Territory - "No Mans Land" by train (Liberal, KS depot) in 1905. Henry and his parents filed adjacent homesteads thirteen miles west of Forgan, Oklahoma. Henry married Blanch (Dickerson) on December 20, 1910 in Liberal, KS. As the years passed, in spite of drought, hail, illness, and tragedy in the loss of three infant sons, they managed to posper. They progressed from a half dugout to a large modern farm home. Henry was known as benevolent, generous, and honest man to those who knew him. After Blanch passed away in 1957, Henry remained on the farm until failing health forced him to move to Forgan where he resided until he died on August, 14, 1962.
