Mrs. Doris Janet Flickinger, 80, of Taneytown, MD, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the Dove Hospice House in Westminster, MD. She was the wife of the late E. Leroy Flickinger.Born August 2, 1931 in Harney, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Florence Koontz Angell.Doris was a longtime resident of Mt. Airy where she and her husband were dairy farmers for many years. She also worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for Southern States and Pilchard Sealed Storage in Mt. Airy before retiring.An avid gardener, Doris and her husband were known for their rose garden which produced award-winning arrangements every year at the Great Frederick Fair. Other favorite past times included bowling, crafts, baking, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.She will be remembered by her children Larry Flickinger of Harney, and Linda Burgee and husband Bruce of Frederick, daughter- in-law Mary Flickinger of Emmitsburg, eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchil- dren. Also surviving are brothers Albert, Gene and Earl Angell, and sister, Ruth Hoffman, and numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by a son, Bernard Flickinger, daughter-in-law Evelyn Flickinger, sisters Louella Strawsbaugh and Grace Kerrigan, and brother, Leroy Angell.The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, on Sunday, July 15, from 5-7 p.m.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Stauffer Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Hoover officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, dona- tions may be made to Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
