FROSTBURG,MARYLAND -- Paul Eugene McKenzie, 91, of Frostburg, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born June 2, 1921, in Lonaconing, he was the son of the late Sebastian William and Ethel Frances (Garlitz) McKenzie. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Francis, Gerald and Jesse McKenzie; and three sisters, Mary Warner, Betty O'Grince and Margaret Pallotta.

Mr. McKenzie was a work foreman for the Department of Natural Resources, State of Maryland and was also a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a lifetime member of Farrady Post 24, American Legion, Frostburg. Paul was a 1939 graduate of Grantsville High School and at the age of 18 years old he was head cook at CCC, Crewe, Va. He enjoyed painting landscapes and historic structures and enjoyed the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Geraldine (Harden) McKenzie; two sisters, Madeline Maust, Lonaconing and Jennie Mae Vivian, Blacksburg, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A prayer service will be held in Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 10 a.m. with Father Edward Hendricks officiating.

Interment will be in the St. Ann Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion.
