In high school, she was an excellent student and star volleyball player for four years. She attended North Texas State University and taught school for three years. She worked for six years as assistant to the manager of the Hardeman County Memorial Hospital in Quanah, Texas.
She married J. Paul Jones, a first-year teacher, in Medicine Mound on April 25, 1942 (a union that lasted over 70 years).
In 1952, they moved to Abilene, Texas where she was employed until 1964 at the regional headquarters of West Texas Utilities Company as a receptionist, then as a secretary to the Company pilot and later as a secretary to the president emeritus. As a sideline, she voluntarily modeled dresses for a large department store, and appeared regularly on television.
She was a member of the B&PW Club, the Order of Eastern Star, a bridge club and a square dance club. Margaret and Paul moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where she was a member of the Episcopal Church Daughters of the King and both Margaret and Paul sang in the church choir for over 30 years.
Margaret was an excellent knitter and made many beautiful items.
As a true Texan, she was ardent supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks. She was an avid reader and television viewer.
She and her husband loved to travel and spent many winters in their RV in the Rio Grande Valley and summers near Crested Butte, Colorado.
In June 2008, the couple moved to Meridian, Idaho to be near their only daughter, Melissa Jones Couch, a speech therapist, and members of their family. They have been active in the Meridian Senior Citizen Club and in the St. Stephens Episcopal Church.
