Wife of Peter Trezevant and daughter of Robert Farquhar and Elizabeth Fagan. She was born in Charlestown, South Carolina [now Charleston]. Her mother died shortly after her birth, probably from complications of child birth. In the late stages of the American Revolution, Her father sent her to England. Her father wanted to spare the child of a possible siege and bombardment of Charleston by patriot forces. She was enrolled in a boarding school near London. Following the sudden death of her father, Elizabeth, age 16 left England and returned to Charleston in order to protect her father's estate. Within 6 months, she married Peter Trezevant. The couple formed a powerful partnership who successfully fought and prevailed in legal cases in the United States and later in England concerning control of her father's and her uncle estates.
In 1826, Elizabeth, husband Peter and younger family members left Charleston, moving to London, England. Elizabeth was an heir to her uncle, John Farquhar's vast fortune. The couple resided for many years in Regent's Park, London.
