Suggested edit: James A. Calhoun Robinson was the son of Samuel Calhoun Robinson and Mary B. Torrance Robinson of Gaston County, North Carolina. James Robinson enlisted at age 18 on 12 June 1861 in the Gaston Guards company, which later became Company H, 23rd North Carolina Infantry Regiment. He was mortally wounded at the Battle of Seven Pines, Virginia on 31 May 1862, and died of his wounds in a hospital in Richmond on 4 June 1862.
