Mrs. Anna Ebel, widely known as Grandma Ebel, died at the home at 2509 Adams Street about nine o'clock last night. Death was due to a stroke. She had been ailing for the past year but not until last Thursday was she confined to her bed.
Mrs. Ebel, nee Anna Payder, was born in Bohemia on September 28, 1852, and would have been 80 years old the latter part of this month. She came to this country at the age of 24 and was married to Lawrence Ebel of Kewaunee a year later. The couple resided in both Kewaunee and Manitowoc counties the greater part of their lives. On September 20, 14 years ago, Mr. Ebel died, and Mrs. Ebel came to this city where she has resided since.
She is survived by seven children, two sisters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The children are Josephine and Catherine at home, Tina of New York City, Mrs. Joseph Hallada and Mrs. Frank Waskow of this city, and Mrs. Robert Markgraf of Pennsylvania. Frank of Rice Lake is the only surviving son. The sisters are Mrs. Christ Mandel and Mrs. George Frey of Dodge, Neb.
