DEATH COMES AT HOSPITAL EARLY TODAY
Struck By Auto Truck Tuesday Night And Is Fatally Hurt
John Buresh, 50, injured when he was struck by an auto truck of the Spindler Company when the truck skidded as the driver attempted to avoid striking the man when he fell from his bicycle in the roadway on North Eleventh Street Tuesday night, died at the hospital early this morning. Buresh suffered a fracture of the skull and had his lung punctured by a rib which was driven through it by force of the truck striking him. Little hope had been held out that Buresh would survive his injuries.
The accident was due to slippery condition of the pavement. Paul Martin, driver of the Spindler truck, was returning from a delivery call at Eleventh and St. Clair Streets. Buresh, who was on a bicycle ahead of the truck, started to turn off onto St. Clair when he fell or alighted from the bicycle and was thrown to the roadway. Martin, in endeavoring to avoid striking the man, applied his brakes and the truck skidded, a hub cap of the wheel striking Buresh, as the man was raising himself. Buresh was taken to the hospital where an operation was undertaken to remove the rib found to have gone through the lung.
Funeral Saturday
Mr. Buresh who was a mason and lived at 418 York street, was 50 years of age and a native of Bohemia. He came to America in middle age and for years, made his home at Ashland where he married Katherine Sloup, who, with four children, the oldest 11 and the youngest one year, survive, the children being Elizabeth, Lillian, Francis and Mary Jane. Two brothers and two sisters, all residing in Bohemia, also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 from the Urbanek and Wattawa Chapel and at 9 at Sacred Heart church. The body will be taken to Tisch Mills for interment.
