Alan W. Glad, 29, of Dundas, died unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at his home. Glad was born July 3, 1969, in Hopkins to Larry and Nancy (Freeman) Glad. He attended primary school in Hopkins and later graduated from Northfield High School in 1987. He was a student at Mankato State University and attended Rice County Technical College in Faribault. Glad was confirmed at the United Methodist Church of Northfield. He worked on the custodial staff at Northfield Hospital for 10 years and was a former member of the Northfield Jaycees. In addition, he enjoyed golfing and bowling and was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos, especially quarterback John Elway. Glad is survived by his mother and step-fatheer, Nancy and Ron Glodfelty of Northfield; a sister, Mary Jo Bergquist of Northfield; a brother Marc Bergquist (and fiancee Suzy Sanford) of Northfield; and a niece, Kiersten Bergquist of Northfield. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a nephew. Services were held Thursday, Jan. 7, at the United Methodist Church of Northfield, pastors Phil Strom and Gerald Gengenbach officiating. Organist was Virginia Stansell, Harriet Menard was soloist and Charlotte DeVries accompanied on the piano. Pallbearers were Scott Rieken, Jeff Freeman, Marc Bergquist, Scott Annexstad, Eric Wefel and Brady Gregg. Interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery in Northfield. Arrangements were made by Benson Funeral Home in Northfield.
