Genevieve Caulfield, affectionately known as (Kitty) died on Sunday, Dec. 9,1979, at her home at 509 East Third. She was 70. She was born on October 26,1909, in Minneapolis, the youngest daughter of Ella (Shefsrud) and Lars Peter Berg. She married James Caulfield on January 8,1927. After residing in Minneapolis, the couple moved to Northfield in 1937, living here every since. She attended St. Benedicts college, the University of Minnesota, and graduated from Carleton College in 1950. She had worked as an x-ray technician and in 1951, as a social worker for Rice county. She was then on the staff of a nursery school for two years, 1953-54. She had done volunteer work at Northfield Hospital and Minnesota Odd Fellows Home at various times since 1954. A member of All Saints Episcopal church throughout her life in Northfield, she enjoyed singing in the choir and doing volunteer work for the church. She is survived by her husband, James Caulfield; two sisters and one brother. The funeral service was held on Thursday, Dec. 13, at All Saints Episcopal church, the Rev. Grant Abbot presiding. Interment took place at Oaklawn cemetery.
