Edward H. Haskett, a businessman in Parsons for 23 years, died at 1:50 a.m. today in the Labette County Medical Center where he had been a patient for about two weeks. He was 60 years old.
Ed, a native of Parsons, was partnered with Thomas H. Pedlar in an Automotive and industrial supplies business from 1947 until earlier this year, when Ed sold his interest and retired, a few months after the death of his wife. Their home was at 3111 Dirr.
He was born here on May 16, 1909, the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Haskett, and was graduated from Parsons High School and Junior College. He served in the Navy during World War II.
He and Margaret Ann Craig of Parsons were married on January 22, 1935, in Cassville, Mo. Her death occurred last Nov. 2.
Ed was a member of Parsons Lodge 117, AF&AM; Parsons Chapter 39, RAM; Couer de Lion Commandry No. 117, Knights Templar; the Fort Scott Conssistory and the American Legion.
He is survived by his Mother who resides at 2324 Stevens; and a brother, Ira Haskett, 613 N. 13th.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Burris-Wall Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. James F. Groth. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn with Masonic graveside rites. Friends may call the funeral home.
