One of Genesee County's pioneers in the telephone and electric lighting industries. At one time he owned the Goodrich Telephone Company, the Montrose Telephone Company, and the Oregon Township Telephone Company (Lapeer County). He also owned and operated a grist mill in Goodrich and because he needed power to run it, built that community's first electrical power plant.
He was a graduate of Bliss Electrical School, Washington, D.C. He strung some of the earliest telegraph and telephone lines in the United States. When he lived in Goodrich he wired most of the homes there. Later, he worked as an electrical engineer at Fisher Body Plant 1, retiring in 1947.
He and his wife, the former Lydia A. Pierson, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in September, 1956.
