He enlisted in the United States Navy in July 1955, where he served his county for 20 years, he retired as a Chief Petty Officer E-7. He received several medals and awards during that time, one of which was the Navy and Marine Corp Medal for heroism.
He married Rowena (Kuhn) Arbogast on March 23, 1961. They had two children, Donald Clay (Betsi) Arbogast of Oak Hill, Ohio and Carma Diane (Jerry) Adkins of Monticello, Ky. He had three grandchildren, Eric Lee Adkins, Donald Reid Arbogast and Stephanie Lynne Arobogast.
He is survived by his wife, Rowena, son Clay, daughter Diane, Grandson Reid, granddaughter, Stephanie; brothers, Dale (Lorabell) of Deerfield, Ks., Jack (Kathy) of Downs, Ks., Glenn (Shirley) Of York, Ne., sister Rosie Carda (Joe) Of Alma, Ne. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Rena, sisters, Barbara Arbogast and Emaline Kennedy and grandson, Eric Adkins.
He was a member of Monroe Chapel. He also retired from USEC. He worked in numerous other jobs over his lifetime. He was a volunteer fire fighter for Madison Jefferson Fire Department for several years. He was a member of the AMVETS post 279.
Funeral service at the Lewis-Gillum Funeral Home (formerly Kuhner-Lewis Funeral Home) Oak Hill, Ohio, with Rev. Randy Hughes officiating. Burial in Horeb Cemetery with Military graveside rites conducted by the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #45 of Jackson, Ohio.
