Opal J. Allen, 86, of Broken Bow, passed away July 11, 2012 in Hugo. She was born March 5, 1926 in Goodwater, Oklahoma, the daughter of George W. and Anna Greer Brewer. A homemaker, Opal had lived in McCurtain County all of her life. She enjoyed going to church and singings and especially loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Opal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Allen and a host of brothers and sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memory 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Barrick and Marcial Salcido of Holly Creek and Barbara Hogan and husband Bill of Nappa, Idaho; grandchildren, Martin Barrick, Misty Blackwell, Randy Barrick, David Barrick, Shannon Barrick, Jimmy Hogan and Nancy Sprague; great-grandchildren, Audrey McDaniel, Josh McDaniel, Jaxie Barrick, Randon Barrick, Landry Barrick, Kaelan Barrick, Kanyon Blackwell, Kain Blackwell, Brantly Barrick, Laci Barrick, Jayden Barrick, Danielle Hux, Taylor Sprague, Sgt. Brandon Hux, US Army, Ft. Bragg, NC, Haley Hogan and Hanna Hogan; great-great-grandchildren, Riggin Barrick, Asher Blackwell, Constance and Karma; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including a special friend she referred to as her sister, Glenna Dollar of Broken Bow.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 13, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm at Bunch-Singleton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 2pm at the Springs of Light Church, with Bro. Leon Hughes officiating and Bro. Don Batchelor assisting. Burial will follow at Holly Creek Cemetery
