MIAMI, Okla. — May Irene Cowan, 85, of Columbus, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami, Okla.
She was born May 1, 1915, at Keelville, to William and Mary Elizabeth (Headley) Alley.
She attended the Four Mile School and graduated from Chetopa High School.
On Feb. 24, 1934, she married [Lindel S.] Bud Cowan at Columbus. He preceded her in death in [Oct. 23, ]1993.
Mrs. Cowan was a homemaker and worked as a supervisor for the Berry, Big Smith and Key garment factories from 1948 until her retirement in 1977.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbus and the Women's International Bowling Congress.
Survivors include a son, Larry L. Cowan of Grove, Okla.; a daughter, Delores Cowan Divine of Columbus; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond Alley and Bill Alley Jr.; a sister, Flossie Hatcher and an infant granddaughter.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Murdock Funeral Home, Columbus, with the Rev. Dennis Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family will be at the home of Delores Divine, Columbus.
Arrangements are under the direction of Murdock Funeral Home, Columbus.
