Man Electrocuted At Layland Mine: Rites Set Friday – Danese, Dec. 30 (RNS) – Howard Richard Adkins, 32, of Danese was killed in a mining accident at Layland at 12:45 p.m. today. Adkins was electrocuted while working with electrical wiring. Born in Glade, July 26, 1926, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hayes Adkins. He was a member of the United Mine Workers Union at Layland. Survivors include his wife, Edna; a son, Howard Jr. and a daughter, Vickie Lynn, both at home; two brothers, Bernard of Landisberg and Earl of Oak Hill; and five sisters. Mrs. Edith Boone of Quinwood, Mrs. Eva Redden of Beckley, Mrs. Lola Vance of Quinnimont, Mrs. Gertie redden of Mill Creek, and Mrs. Goldie Ballenger of Quinnimont. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Peace Chapel at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral in Beckley by the Rev. Virgil McNeil. Burial will be in Kidwell Cemetery at Table Rock.
