James was born May 13, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Charles and Rose Curran Boyle. He married Therese F. Mageean on June 1, 1957 in Brooklyn, NY.
James had proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, a past president of the Holy Name Society, past member of the Elks and Evening Republican Club, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 437 and American Legion Post #32.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Terrie; daughter, Elizabeth (husband, Rick) Reynolds of Springfield; two sons, James (wife, Melissa) Boyle of Alton and Patrick Boyle of Springfield; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Charles Boyle of Atlanta, GA, Patrick Boyle of Albertson, NY, and Hugh Boyle of Maryland; and two sisters, Sr. Mary Assunta, RSM and Grace Doyle both of Long Island, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveteran's Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
