Born the 4th son of Daniel and Matilda Chumley, he married Addie Lee Walraven (probably abt 1891 when we worked for the Marietta Power & Light Company of Marietta, GA.)

He settled in Montgomery, AL. abt 1892 when he worked for the Mutual Light & Power Company helping to install and build distribution lines. In 1898 he became Chief Engineer with the Edison Light & Power Company, then the Citizens Light, Heat & Power Company, then the Montgomery Light & Traction Company in 1910 which eventually became part of the Alabama Power Company.

In his spare time, Marsh tended his flower gardens, and was very proud of his roses. He often times gave flowers to the ladies where he worked.
