Obituary: The Randolph Leader, November 17, 1993

ROANOKE, AL -- Funeral services for Mack Lee Hamlin, 101, of Roanoke, will be Wednesday, November 17, 1993, at 11 a.m. from Antioch Congregational Christian Church, with Dr. Frank McCook, Rev Wallace Roberts and Rev E. G. Clark officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Mr. Hamlin died Sunday, November 14, 1993 at his residence.

A native and lifelong resident of Chambers County, Mr. Hamlin was born February 9, 1892, son of Richard Jasper and Georgia Anne Sharman Hamlin. He was a member and a deacon of Antioch Congregational Christian Church and owned/operated a dairy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Elmira Katherine Royston Hamlin; a son, Richard Frank Hamlin; and a daughter, Martha Loyette Hamlin.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Marcia Benford and Mrs. Bovine Birdsong, both of Roanoke; two grandsons, Ben Benford and Frank Benford; and two great-grandsons, Jeff Benford and Cary Benford.

Pallbearers will be Charles Battit, Mack Rollins, Melton Sanders, Tommy Day, Raymond Landers and Sam Shelnutt.

The body will lie in state at the church for one hour, beginning at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, the day of the funeral service.

Flowers will be accepted; the family suggests memorial contributions to Antioch Congregational Christian Church.

Quattlebaum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
