November 6, 1941 ~ April 5, 2012

As her family prayed, Kay Waddell entered into rest on April 5, 2012. Arlene Kay Waddell was born on November 6, 1941, to Tom Baker and Pearl "Itsy" (Smith) Baker in Okanogan, WA. She was raised in Monse, WA. Her maternal great-grandmother, Clotilda Stelkia Dennis Black, her maternal grandfather and grandmother, John A.C. "Johnny" Smith and Emily Dennis Smith lived in Monse and were a great influence on her life. Her paternal grandmother, Nellie Douglas Baker Pichette, lived in East Omak. Kay lived in Monse, Cheney, Brewster, Malott and settled in Okanogan. She has three children, Lynn "Breezy" (Pam) Cox of Jones, OK, John Evan Cox of Oregon and Karen Louise Cox (Nickolas) Cashen of Douglas, AK; seven grandchildren, Cory, Carrie, Geral, Tim, John, Nicholas and Brice; and seven great-grandchildren.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband, John "Stan" Waddell; mother, Pearl "Itsy" Baker; brother, Richard "Dick" Baker; and her grandchild, Tim. She is survived by her father; her children; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sisters, Debbie (Jim) Wheeler, Cindy (Ken) Hoke of Grand Coulee and Ann Rogers of Okanogan; her brother, Tom Baker Jr. of Okanogan; five nieces, Hanna and Tara Wheeler, Amanda Hoke, Rose Waddell and Rachel Rogers; and one nephew, Jake Rogers.

Kay was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a CNA at the Okanogan Nursing home, packed apples and, at the age of 40, attained her GED and her LPN Nursing Degree. Kay enjoyed rodeo, sewing, crochet, camping and fishing. She worked for Okanogan Family Health and one of her special patients was Jessie. Her family believes, one of her most giving acts was to step in and give her siblings her life to them, after the loss of their mother, "Itsy" in 1976, until her own death this April. Kay was a member of the Colville Confederate Tribes and Eagles Lodge #3004.

Graveside Services will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Ft. Okanogan Memorial Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., with Father Matthew Nicks Officiating.
