William Brashear was the son of Robert Brashear and Mary Everage. He married Malinda C. Edwars on 11-18-1855 in Fleming Co., Ky. She was the daughter of Owen Edwards and Elizabeth Lonsdale.They were the parens of the following known children:

After the death of William, Malinda had a second marriage to Henry James Pritchard and had more children: Virginia, Joseph , Josephine., Sarah Jane, Ada M. and Margaret Alice PritchardWilliam Y. B. Brashears is no more. He was born in Perry county, Kentucky in 1834, married to Miss M. C. Edwards in Fleming county, Kentucky on November 18, 1855, and died in Wise county, Virginia on February 1, 1864. He acted as quartermaster in the 10th Kentucky Regiment, commanded by Col. Caudill, until his health failed, when he had to desist from labor and exporsure. Deep-rooted pulmonary consumption had seized him as a victim.
