==Research Notes ==
#Proof that Abel was the son of James Henderson Cook, would be found through documentation that he inherited a tract of land from his mother upon her death which had previously been owned by Jacob Jessup and which was adjacent to the "Knowland Plantation/Mill" (as per the will of James Cook).
#The only other "Abel Cook" found in pre-1800 North Carolina records are for the brother of James Henderson Cook's father, John Cook, strengthening the case for this Abel to be his descendant.
