Thomas P. McGrail was born in Ireland and his wife Emma J. Butler was born in England. Thomas and Emma were married 22 July 1903. Emma had previously been married to a Mr. Wright, most probably in England. Emma was the mother of 3 children prior to her second marriage. (Possible UK marriage--Emma Jane Butler 1881 Yorkshire,England to a Tom Wright.)

Emma is stated in the 1900 US Census to have emigrated from England in the year 1885. Her older living daughter at the time, Louisa Wright, was listed in the same Census as having been born in England, in August of 1884. The younger daughter, Edith Wright, was listed as born in Pennsylvania November 1891. There had been one other child who was born and died prior to 1900, as Emma was stated to have been the mother of 3 children with 2 still living in the year 1900 Census.

Thomas had emigrated in the year 1881, according to the 1900 Census in George, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

Thomas and Emma had a daughter, Edith Louise who married John White.
