Mrs. Caroline Dowd, 92 Years Old, Dies
MOTHER OF B.B. AND SAM BURNQUIST
Mrs. Caroline Dowd, 92, a resident of Webster county for nearly 80 years, died early Tuesday morning at Lutheran hospital where she had been a medical patient since last December.
Mrs. Dowd was the mother of B.B. Burnquist, prominent Fort Dodge attorney, and Sam Burnquist of Dayton, where Mrs. Dowd lived for a number of years before coming to Fort dodge in 1898.
Funeral Friday
Funeral services will take place Friday afternoon at one o'clock at the Grace Lutheran church with the Rev. C.L. Lindberg, pastor, conducting the rites. He will be assisted by the Rev. B.A. Olsen.
The body is at the Wilder and Bruce funeral home where it will remain until 12 noon Friday when it will be taken to the church to lie in state. The casket will be closed at the time of services and will not be reopened.
Burial will be in the family lot at Dayton cemetery.
Mrs. Dowd was born May 17, 1855, in Småland, Sweden, and came to the United States in 1870. She lived for a brief time in Illinois and then came to Dayton in 1871. Her marriage to the late Samuel Burnquist of Dayton took place in 1874 [1873]. Mr. Burnquist's death occurred in 1895, and later Mrs. Burnquist married Frank A. Dowd, former Webster county sheriff, who died in 1904.
