LaCrosse -- Matilda Schmidt, 77, died Feb. 21, 1986 at St. Anthony Hospital, Hays.

Born Matilda Depperschmidt Oct. 26, 1908 at Liebenthal, she married Leonard Schmidt Nov. 7, 1927 at Liebenthal.

She had been a resident of Rush County all of her life. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Altar Society and VFW Auxiliary, all of LaCrosse.

Survivors, husband of the home; a son John Schmidt, Laughlin, Nev.; daughters, Betty Schmidt, Hays, Dorothy McDermeit, LaCrosse; sisters, Margaret Herrman, LaCrosse, Mary Herrman, Liebenthal; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, Monsignor George Schmidt and Father Goerge Mueller. Burial will be at LaCrosse Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Janousek Funeral Home, LaCrosse. Rosaries will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home.
