John was named after his maternal grandfather John Meredith Edwards.

John died at his daughters home at 904 Molalla Ave

Also according to these applications to request Choctaw citizenship, it was stated that John's fathers full name was Thomas Hambright "Tommy" Jackson born in Georgia.

Per John's mother Martha Elizabeth Edwards application, she states that her parents were John Meredith David Edwards and Sarah Blagg. Thomas Hambright Jackson died 27 April 1897 in Velma, Stephens County, Oklahoma. Sometime after that Martha Elizabeth Edwards married Aron Clubb and is found in a 1910 census in Stephens County, Oklahoma.

John and Ora Luella Murphy married in the year 1887 in Kansas. Ora died in 1908 just 2 months after the birth of their youngest daughter Vernah.

In a copy of John J Jackson's OBIT it says he passed away at his daughter's house Mrs L.H.Schetky (Bonnie Abbie) in Oregon and then states he had 8 children and is survived by 6, John Irvan: Oklahoma, Thomas Earl: Kansas, Lee Dorn: Oregon ,Edna and Ruth: Oklahoma, Verna: Kansas

John remarried (date/year and 2nd wife's name unknown) after the death of his wife Ora. In the 1910 census he is listed as widowed raising his children. In the 1920 census he lists himself as married, however the 2nd wife is not enumerated. According to one of John's great granddaughters who provided the pic of John with his 2nd wife on their wedding day, no one could remember her name and the marriage did not work out as she and Johns children didn't not get along. **Family Lore: According to his daughter Edna (contributor Donna Z's grandmother) and collaborated with his great granddaughter Jo Ann, John spent time in Leavenworth Prison for murdering a man. At the time he was a Texas Ranger and got into a scuffle with a man and shot him
