Born in Jamaica, Long Island, N.Y., Mrs. Corley was a daughter of the late John M. and Helen K. Duffy. She traveled around the United States and lived briefly in Mexico. Her family moved to Columbia in 1934 when she was eleven years old. She grew up in Shandon and was educated in Columbia schools. A graduate of Dreher High School, she attended the University of South Carolina and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.
Mrs. Corley worked for many years at the former Citizens and Southern Bank in Five Points. She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband of sixty-six years, Douglas Kirkland Corley; brother and sister-in-law, William J. "Bill" and Sybil Duffy; niece, Patricia M. "Pat" Spear and her husband, Robert "Bob" Spear; nephews, J. Michael "Mike" Duffy and William J. "Bill" Duffy, Jr., all of Columbia. Also surviving are grandniece, Laura S. (Mrs. Chris) Trainor of Atlanta, Ga.; and great-grandnieces, Kathleen, Claire and Julia Trainor. She was preceeded in death by her sister, Kathleen Duffy Muir and brother-in-law, Arnold C. Muir.
The family thanks Mary House, Jackie Flenister and Betty Bell for devoted service and the staff and nurses on the 11th floor East at Palmetto Health Richland and Palmetto Health Hospice for their kindness and caring during Mrs. Corley's illness.
