Lucille Williams, 91, of Modesto died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1999, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
She was born Dec. 9, 1908, near Palmyra, the daughter of William and Julia Coots Best. She married Ralph H. Williams in 1934 in Carlinville; he preceded her in death in 1976. A daughter, Marilyn, also preceded her in death in 1958.
Mrs. Williams was a 1926 graduate of Palmyra High School and earned a teaching certificate from Normal Teachers College. She taught in several rural schools, retiring from Northwestern CUSD 2 in Palmyra.
She was a member of Modesto Christian Church, Retired Teachers Association; a lifetime member of Palmyra Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star 453 and volunteered for Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
Survivors: a son, Warren (wife, Marilyn) Williams of Prescott, Ariz., and Modesto; a daughter, Kathryn (husband, Don) Connolly of Modesto; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Modesto Christian Church. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra.
